Fossika is an AI trained personal financial assistant that aims to make financial knowledge and planning accessible and affordable for everyone to take control of their financial future and achieve their financial goals.

But how did Fossika come to be? What inspired its creators to develop such a unique and revolutionary product? The answer lies in the history of another product, Age Plan, which was launched five years ago by the same team behind Fossika.  Led by Suzanne Ross with a background in consulting, accounting and financial planning whose former company was in the BRW Top 100, her team recognized a huge gap in the market.  Wealthy people use financial planners to control and create wealth, but ordinary people can’t afford financial planners.

Age Plan was a website that provided information and services for older Australians who wanted to plan for their retirement. Age Plan helped users facing the costs of aged care facilities to understand their options, compare different providers, and access government-funded aged care services. Age Plan was a success, as it filled a gap in the market and helped thousands of Australians to navigate the complex and confusing aged care system.

However, the Age Plan team soon realized that there was a bigger problem that needed to be solved: the lack of financial literacy and planning among the general population. They discovered that only 16% of Australian adults, equivalent to 3,200,000 people, have a financial advisor or planner. The top reasons for not using a financial advisor are that people prefer to manage their own money (42%) and that it’s too expensive (39%).

The Age Plan team also learned that the situation was not much better in other countries. For example, only about 27.88% of Americans have a financial plan, and about 40% of American households are only one missed paycheck away from poverty. These statistics show that financial insecurity and stress are common and widespread issues that affect millions of people around the world.

Having worked with AI since its inception with programs like Another You knowledge-based chatbots, data manager Biz Manager Online, and Fossika for Financial Planners, Suzanne and her team team decided to take action and create a solution that would address these challenges. They envisioned a product that would empower people to learn about financial concepts and create personalized financial plans. They wanted to make this product accessible and affordable for everyone, regardless of their income, education, or location. They wanted to create a product that would change lives.

That product is Fossika.
